2008/09 Player of the season countdown

#20. Andrew Moreland

Apps: 6, Assists: 2

This season Andrew has had little to contribute on the pitch due to injury, a shame given how many consecutive starts he'd made the season previous. He admitted that once he got injured he only came because Adkins made such an effort last season, and fair play to him for doing so because its always nice to have another FAG in attendance.

He managed to get fit and play Banter’s second pre-season friendly and the first few league games before the knee began causing problems, then a bizarre thigh injury picked up playing rugby - which an MRI scan didn’t show to be too healthy.

As for the performances he did put in, they were good in dribs and drabs as he struggled to find fitness and form. His headed assist to Euro in the Surrey Cup against Monkey Tennis was a sign of old times and his cameo in central midfield against Postal in November was extremely promising, distributing the ball well and getting stuck into the midfield battle. But that thigh injury occurred the week after and he hasn’t played since.

Hore is surprisingly quick, as strong as King Kong, has a decent touch and an eye for a pass. His confidence on the ball is what holds him back - perhaps even a lack of interest at times - but with some time on the ball in training this could be improved drastically and he could provide something really different to Banter’s forward line again. Hopefully next campaign will be more promising on the fitness front. His baby boys would love to see him back in blue.
