"It's banter init, if you've got banter you're alright." - Rio Ferdinand, 2006
All the numbers that mattered in 2010/11 for Banter, right here. Well, maybe not all. You might have thought of one that you think is important but isn't on there. Tell you what, if you have, add your own statistics at the bottom. Enjoy.
0 Clean sheets this season. More on that later.
1 Games where Banter failed to score. Two lower than last year, but how the ball didn’t find the net against Barracuda away is a head
scratcher. Don’t ask Wommy about the Purley Way bounce.
2 Occasions when Banter have reached double figures for goals in matches this season.
3 Players who have scored double figures for goals this season: Brownie, Wommy and Hughes. A record, with last season being the first time
two players had gone beyond single digits.
Also the number of net busters from Owen Goal. His highest tally for a single season to date.
4 Goals per game average. 4.05, to be precise.
Also the number of goals scored by Tino. Four goals in his first season, four goals in his second season and four goals in this one. Tidy.
5 Games started in goal by Ben Doc – which doesn’t include the change over in the second half against Kurdish, at home.
Also the number of hat tricks scored against Banter this season. Only Addiscombe’s Andre Malcolm finished on the losing side.
6 Number of losses either by one goal and/or after extra time. With only four other losses this season, the fine margins are quite the
punishment.
7 Occasions when Banter have netted five or more goals in a game.
8 Combined number of goals scored by Cling, Fintan, Wilkes and Jonny.
Also the combined number of goals from Ridders and Baird.
9 Number of games won. Down two on last year, though.
Also the number of minutes remaining when Banter needed to - and did - score three times to equalise against AFC Surrey in November.
10 Banter Central hat tricks this season. More than doubling the number from the three previous seasons combined. Brownie (3), Wommy (3),
Hughes (2), Ridders and Tino.
11 Assists by Kid Baird this season. More than any other player.
12 Different Banter goal scorers this season. An equal of the last two seasons.
13 Competitive fixtures that Brownie has scored in, which beat the previous record set last season by Wommy of 10. Doubles and triples often
skew the stats, but 13 out of the 19 he played ain’t half bad. His total last season was 8 different games from a possible 20.
15 Goals scored by Hughes, competitively. More than any other Banter midfielder in any other season.
16 Goals scored in one game by Banter against Addiscombe Corinthians. A club record.
Also the number of goals scored against Kurdish Euro in the season as a whole. Both games equal the 16 put past Milburn Reserves in
2007/08 (over three games that year, somehow we only won one of them).
20 Competitive games played. Two fewer than last season, despite getting to the same stage of the Leonard Vase and two rounds further in
the League Cup.
Also the number of games played by Cling. Wommy, Wilkes and Brownie were absent on the one occasion, playing 19 games.
Also the number of players used by BCFC this season.
23 Total number of all time assists by Wommy, which at a season end finally knocks Euro off the top.
24 Number of goals scored by Chris Brown – a record haul for a single season.
31 Games since this club last kept a clean sheet. F*ck.
32 Goals scored by Kevin McGourty. I don’t care if he doesn’t play for us. He was still a goal shy of Barracuda’s Chris Lee, though.
33 Years, 338 days. Age of Richie Bennett when he played against Real Madras on 6 February 2011. An old man’s record.
34 Consecutive competitive games played by Ridley between September 2009 and January 2011. A club record.
40 Goals scored by ‘the rest’. The rest being not Banter’s centre forwards. In 2008/09, that number was 19. In 2009/10, that number was 27.
Hughes may have plenty alone, but eight different goal scoring midfielders compares favourably to last season’s six.
42 Competitive games played, from a possible 43, by Wilkes in the last two seasons. He leads the pack with Ridley and Wommy two short of
43, Cling three behind that number, with Brownie and Baird trailing the maximum by four.
52 Seconds at which Cling’s goal went in against Croydon Independiente B. Beating Shannon’s 77 second strike against Eagle Royale in
November 2007.
58 Goals conceded. Two up on last term.
66 Goals scored by the pairing of Brownie and Wommy over the last two seasons, from 80 games.
81 Goals scored this season. A record, with 19 more goals in three fewer games from last season.
85 Competitive Banter Central games played when they took to the field against Selsdon on the last day of the season.
200 All time Banter goals scored when Wommy equalised against Surrey Valley in January.
300 Goodwill gestures by Manny for Kate during games.
500 Fans who watched Real Madras vs. Banter, in February. What would we do without that train line running along pitch side?
1595 Minutes played by Wilkes this season. More than any other player.
10,000 Dollars spent by Brownie in Las Vegas.
