Ridders calls time on his International career

23/11/09

Following the recent news of Luke Young calling it a day, Thomas Urban Ridley has also come out and decided to retire from International football.

Despite winning no England caps, Ridders has decided to focus his attentions on Banter Central FC from now on. The winger said:

"I wish to focus my attentions on Banter Central FC from now on."

It will come as a blow to Fabio Capello and his staff, who will now found themselves short on options when choosing right-sided players for South Africa, should Glen Johnson, David Beckham, Danny Mills or Ruel Fox be unavailable. Particularly when other options at right-midfield come in the form of Shaun Wright-Phillips, who not only couldn't trap a bag of cement, but whose qualification into professional football at all is being the adopted son of Ian Wright.

But one person's loss is another's gain as Banter manager Richard Cling was delighted with the news, commenting: "I'm delighted by the news. One person's loss is another's gain and in this case it feels like I've won the lottery, in a way."

Chris Mann on the hand has rules out the possibility of ever saying no to England. Vidic said: "I would never say no to England. Not even if they asked me to be the mascot or boot cleaner. Even Fabio Capello's personal translator, I'd do it. I mean, I don't speak Italian but still, if he wanted one, I'd do it. I'd find a way."

The news on Ridders comes as Justin Said was disappointed that Malta didn't qualify for next summer's World Cup and Guernsey have not been accepted as a recognished national side by FIFA yet.

Rumours that Euro's sister could be part of the half time "entertainment" in South Africa are unconfirmed. I'm sure Hore will find out.
